Australia's craziest daredevil Crusty Demon, Cam Sinclair, made history in front of a screaming crowd of almost 7,000 at the first Crusty Demon's Show in Napier yesterday, when he landed a perfect double back flip ramp to ramp. The death defying stunt has never been performed in NZ before and is regarded as the most dangerous trick in extreme sports.
Twenty Four year old Sinclair from Melbourne has spent almost a year preparing for this pinnacle moment in his career and now becomes one of only three men in history to do so and the first ever over 55 feet - 15 feet further than the two American riders who had completed it previously. The double back flip required Sinclair to accelerate as hard as he can when hitting his specially designed ramp that propels his 125kg., 250cc dirt bike almost 55 feet into the air, forcing him to rotate almost twice as fast than when performing a standard back flip. The consequences of crashing from such a stunt are beyond comprehension but Sinclair pulled off the cleanest double flip ever seen. " It feels so amazing to finally get that first one way and I am so glad I got to do it on tour with all of my riding buddies. It felt so good when they ran up to congratulate me, "said Cam. " The crowd was amazing and pumped me up so much before it, strangely I wasn't nervous before it, I just want to get it done and I did. " Prior to his performance Sinclair had to complete many practice jumps into a foam pit and had even performed it into Sydney Harbour, but never ramp to ramp because it is too dangerous. Sinclair will now go on to perfom the double back flip at every show on the Unleash Hell New Zealand tour which also includes the best riders performing the biggest tricks in FMX from across the globe.
